History

This wonderful story began in 1973 when the Canoe-Kayak World championship was held on the portion of the rivière aux Sables river which crosses the present property. The land was then officially bought by a non-profit corporation whose mission was to have the local population enjoy the installations left after these championship.

At the same time, a first building was erected along the river. Already popular as a preferred kayaking place, the site became a vacation resort when lodging and restaurant services as well as other services linked with the outdoors were introduced.

Four years later, a second building was constructed. At the time, this building and the chalet were like huge dormitories with communal services. However, with the constantly increasing popularity of the site, the management of the time had to increase its installations to better answer the demands of the customers.

The present main building was erected in 1979. Modest, the latter consisted in a cafeteria as well as a few rooms to answer the demand for meetings, receptions and such. Later, the vacation resort in an attempt to diversify its customers offered a variety of nature stays, snow classes, green classes as well as prolonged outdoor stays, etc.

It is also at that time that the business became more structured to welcome different work groups, businesses and organizations who still prefer the site today for their activities.

During the 80s new buildings were built thus increasing the site's lodging capacity.
At the same time, an outfitter on Lake Plétipi located on the 50th parallel was purchased as well as a portion of land on the shores of Lake Kénogami. The latter purchase was used as a nautical base for sailing and canoeing activities.

Still in the 80s, the main building was renovated and dining rooms, a bar and two conference rooms were added.  The lodging capacity was also increased by adding   another building.

During the 90s the dormitories were transformed into lodging units and 9 other rooms of superior quality plus reception areas and administrative offices were added in the main building.

In May 1998, a business man from Saint-Félicien, bought the site thus changing its vocation to the present holiday resort.
